Patreon! And New Staff!

posted by kittybot (#37) Monday, August 13th, 2018 2:21 PM

Hey Spotties! It looks like we're going to be launching a Patreon page to help out with the site! Currently our staff are volunteers, which means we can't donate as much time to the site as we would like. If we can pay our staff, work will go much faster! Aciconyx has been running since 2011 and has never been in the black that entire time, and we want to change that. You can help by giving us your ideas for Patreon rewards! The staff already have a bunch of concepts ready but we want to know what you would like to see - what would make YOU sign up to pledge, if you could? We've got great things planned and we need your help to get them working perfectly!

Also, please give a warm fuzzy welcome to our new staff members, Kaykao and Almighty! Kaykao is going to be helping Jess out with coding, especially working on Beta, and Almighty is an artist who is going to be handling most of our Explore animals - so there'll be more great art for you to see when Exploring! Head on over to Facebook ( ) to see what she's done so far!

Bugs and Beta

posted by kittybot (#37) Saturday, August 11th, 2018 1:15 PM

Heya Spotties! I just wanted to let everyone know that, while your bug reports are very useful and you should definitely keep posting them in the forums, a lot of bug fixing is on hold in favor of programming the Beta from the ground up. We still want to know about those bugs so we can make sure they don't get put into the new site! But, in the meantime, please be aware that bug fixes might be slow or nonexistent on the current site. Thanks!

One last thing, Spotties - please be sure to check out our Facebook to keep up to date on new art, sneak peeks, extra info, and more! Now that we've got the news here up and running again I'll be trying to keep the info the same between the two platforms, but there will definitely be some stuff on Facebook you can't see here, so go check it out!

New Things, Moving Forward

posted by kittybot (#37) Thursday, January 18th, 2018 4:26 PM

Hi Spotties!

It's been a long time since our last news post! Sorry about that!

We're steadily moving forward here, with Jess hard at work on code both to keep improving the current site and to get Beta up and running as soon as possible. There've been some hiccoughs along the way but we're getting there.

If you look around the site you may notice some new things! Namely in the Explore feature. We have a new map image and a new image for the River area! I (Kittybot) did those, and we have a new area, the Watering Hole, opening soon with area art by our new artist Lex and item art from our other new artists Blue and Angela. Let's give a big warm spotty welcome to all our new artists! They're hard at work behind the scenes getting new images and features ready just as fast as Jess can code them (and sometimes a little faster - sorry Jess!).

As a reminder, we're always looking for new artists to add to the team, so if you think you've got what it takes, send Kittybot an email at farore.nightclaw[at] with some examples of your work! We're especially looking for background and animal artists right now, but also items and plushes. Artist positions are currently volunteer only (with payment in site currency), but will be moving to Real Life Dollars paid positions as soon as AX can financially afford to do so. Artists will be expected to style-match the existing art on the site and to maintain a consistent level of quality and communication/contact with the group. It is greatly preferred if you are able to use Skype in order to stay in contact with our artist group chat.

That's all for now, Spotties! We hope to see you around the site more, and please let us know in the Community Forums if you spot any bugs or quirks in the wild, or if you have any suggestions or just want to chat!
